Ok I have been watching that an inconvenient truth. Until I saw that movie (which is yesterday evening) I never imagined how our planet is really not in too good state.
As the gouverment and all those money having ppl are trying to tell us how the world is slowly being "attacked" by that effect called global warming ... which is so not the truth. It's not slowly being attacked. In 50 years we might be short for who knows how many animal species ... temperature would definitely increase, sea levels getting higher. And that is not in like 300 or 400 years which is much looking at the world history of few billion years. It's in 50 years during our lifetime and lifetime of our children. The hottest years where from 1900 - till that time. I'm talking about the hottest years in world history. Those storms that all of us heard of and thousand ones we haven't heard of. Ice melting ... Greenland or south pole ... but really big ones are getting cut of and floating across the sea or just melting and finding it's way to the sea beyond all the ice. If 2 big half's that could be melted soon ... melted; the sea level would get higher for 6m. That is New York, Netherlands, Calcutta and many more under water.
It's not a gouverments problem, it's our problem. They have many reasons for acting the way they act. If we managed to do something about the ozon layer getting thiner. Then we can do something about this too. Most of us have the will to do something good and help future generations and our generation live life as they did until now.
I want at least a bit of my DNA to drive that flying cars
If not my dog to walk by my side on nice sunny evening on the sea cost in 50 years or so.
So here is the list what you can do to help me and my future dog walk on our already defined Croatian cost + naturally save the world:
1. You can reduce your carbon emissions.
2. Buy energy efficient appliances + lightbulbs.
3. Change your thermostat (and use clock thermostat) to reduce energy for heating + cooling.
4. Weatherize your house increase insulation, get an energy audit.
5. Recycle.
6. If you can buy a hybrid car.
7. When you can, walk or ride a bicycle.
8. Where you can, use light rail + mass transit.
9. Swich to renewable sources of energy.
10. Call your power company to see if they offer green energy. If they don't, ask them why not.
11. Vote for leaders who pledge to solve this crisis. Write to congrass. If they don't listen run for congress.
12. Plant trees...lots of trees.
13. Speak up in your community.
14. Call radio shows and write newspapers.
15. Insist that America freeze Co2 emissions.
+ join international efforts to stop global warming.
16. Reduce our dependence on foreign oil; help farmers grow alcohol fuels.
17. Raise fuel economy standards;
require lower emissions from automobiles.
18. If you believe in prayer, pray that people will find the strength to change.
19. Learn as much as you can about the climate crisis...then put your knowledge into action.
Ok it's a long list I admit ... and all of us can't do everything and i don't think all of us are here to do everything ... but we can do much. We just stop doing some of those that are doing damage as much as we can in this faze of our lives. Then definetily some things would change.If all of ppl aren't doing anything, that doesn't mean you don't have to do it. Just be yourself and have a moral standards of your own.
Watch the movie and tell your friends, that's what I've done and am doing now...and that is at least what all of us can do. Also for my ppl from Croatia ... tram cars are stuffy but cool :p
